Dr. Wilkinson is a Toronto native who received his Doctor of Optometry in 2007. He is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry (OD, ‘07), University of Waterloo (Bsc, ‘03) and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO, ‘14). He is a certified clinical investigator, with special interest in the areas of contact lenses and the management of myopia/refractive error, and has participated in research in these areas.
Dr. Wilkinson is passionate about optometric education and mentorship. He is affiliated with the University of Waterloo as a part-time Clinical Instructor at the Waterloo Eye Institute, where he works with upper year optometry students.
Dr. Wilkinson was formerly the Practice Advisor at the College of Optometrists of Ontario (2012 - 2021), where he supported the development of policies, standards of practice and the College's Quality Assurance program, prepared regulations for the MOHLTC, and presented at regional society meetings and interprofessional meetings. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists.
